HEAP Implementation Group

The purpose of the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Historic Environment Action Plan (CCWWD AONB HEAP) Implementation Group is to:

  • initiate, undertake and oversee the delivery of the 20 actions contained within the CCWWD AONB HEAP over a 3 year period from February 2011 to February 2014.
  • promote the HEAP as an evidence base which can inform: planning policy and strategy, management policy and practice, research and outreach;
  • promote the CCWWD AONB HEAP as a best practice exemplar to other areas, especially nationally protected landscapes.

The Implementation Group will initially split into 2 subgroups focusing on different types of actions. These groups will meet for the first time by the end of August and determine format and regularity of meetings.

Sub Group One (Chaired by Laura Bullivant & Claire Ryley) will focus on: -

Actions that deal with a Lack of Information or Knowledge AND a Lack of Appreciation or Understanding

Sub Group Two (Chair to be decided) will focus on: -

Actions that deal with Heritage Under Threat AND a Lack of Appropriate Management

HEAP Steering Group

The development of the Historic Environment Action Plan Project was supported by a steering group who meet approximately every 4 to 6 months to provide input into each stage of the project

First project workshop 12th March 2009 at East Knoyle.

This event was aimed at steering group members and other key stakeholders. The event introduced the background to the project and enabaled attendees to provide initial input to get the Historic Environment Action Plans off to the best possible start

Meeting of the HEAP Technical group 11th June 2009

A smaller technical group has also been established to look at ways in which the HEAP can feed into and inform the work that Local Authorities are already undertaking in conservation and heritage. The next meeting will be held at Wednesday 18th November 2009 and all relevant local authority officers are invited to attend.
